Developing GenAI-literate Graduates in Social Media Marketing through Industry engagement and Pilot GenAI Assessment

Supported by Curtin University’s Assessment 2030: Teaching Innovation Future Fund, our recent project explores how generative AI (GenAI) can be authentically embedded into business and marketing education. Through a combination of industry-informed roundtables, classroom pilots, and student surveys, the project investigates how AI-integrated learning activities enhance students’ literacy, creativity, and ethical awareness. The project has produced practical teaching resources — including a training guide, instructional videos, and an AI literacy report — to support educators in integrating AI responsibly across the curriculum. Together, these outcomes aim to prepare graduates who can leverage GenAI effectively and ethically in the evolving digital marketing landscape.

GenAI policies/guidelines and higher education: A systematic mapping approach

Qiurong Chen, Litang Wen, Mingming Cheng

Abstract: The emergence of Generative AI (GenAI) is rapidly transforming higher education, offering new possibilities while posing significant ethical and pedagogical challenges. This study examines how universities in Australia, the UK, the US, and China are responding through their institutional policies and guidelines. Using a systematic mapping approach, the study reveals that universities have largely adopted fragmented and narrowly scoped policies and guidelines. Six recurring policy themes were identified, capturing the prevailing tendencies of GenAI policy design. Based on the findings, this study proposes a seven-stage “INSPIRE” framework for designing effective and integrated GenAI policies and guidelines. This study makes a twofold contribution by providing a multi-national comparative analysis and a structured, actionable framework to guide future policy/guideline development in higher education.
